  • 19.12.: Germany: the "Riffs" album failed to reach the german TOP100 album charts.

  • 18.12.: supplement: on December 8 the Daily Mirror featured a full-page report entitled: 3 am Special: On the road with Quo. The Daily Mirror writer Niki Waldegrave was invited to spent 2 days with the band and she wrote an excellent report about it. Quote "As the bus pulls into Croydon venue, I feel a rush of sadness. I've spent two days with the Quo and I don't want to go.... the lads are true gents and great fun".
  • 18.12.: UK tour news: in the meantime the Riffs tour is coming to an end - the last 3 gigs of the Riffs tour are to be played in Scotland.
  • 18.12.: Germany: german Quo fans are looking forward to the first german open air in 2004. Status Quo will be playing the "Night of the rock" in Coburg, July 3. Also announced from the local promoters are Deep Purple, Cheap Trick and Bad Company. This open air is an annual event and should attract around 10.000 - 15.000 people.
  • 18.12.: Netherlands: Status Quo is announced for the Bospop Festival 2004 in Weert/NL (July 9 - 10). Also Deep Purple, Cheap Trick, Thunder and Gotthard are announced - see info on the Bospop website www.bospop.nl

  • 30.11.: the "Riffs" album now on No.74 of the UK album charts in the 2. week.

  • 23.11.: the "Riffs" album entered the UK album charts on No. 44.

  • 23.11.: so far no changes in the setlist on the current UK tour, therefore no songs from the new album. Talking about promotion of the album: there are TV adverts in british TV (Channel 5) and last Monday an advert appeared in the "Daily Mirror" (3 million readers).
  • 23.11.: german tour promoter Moderne Welt announced in the current newsletter: "in preparation: Status Quo german concerts for summer and autumn 2004".

  • 21.11.: the first concerts of the year 2004 are announced. In March 2004 Status Quo plays 5 shows in Ireland: Belfast (6.3.) Dublin (8.3. + 9.3.) Castlebar (11.3.) and Killarney (12.3.). Tickets can be ordered online from 29th November onwards at www.ticketmaster.ie .

  • 08.11.: another 2 Quo songs were voted into the TOP1000 of south german radiostation SWR1's record charts. "Caroline" reached No.640 and "What you're proposin" reached No.653. Winner was once again "Stairway to heaven" by Led Zeppelin - Runners up Beatles "Yesterday" No.3 "Bohemian Raphsody" Queen. At the Carlisle show of QUO's UK tour "Burning Bridges" was in the encore and the opener was "Caroline".

  • 07.11.: yesterdays show in Newcastle saw another change in the setlist - "Caroline" opened the the show and "Mystery Medley" went back into the main set. The encore started with "Paper Plane".
  • 07.11.: The song "Rocking all over the world" was voted on No.142 on the radio records-charts of the south german radio-station SWR1. "Whatever you want" reached No. 315.

  • 05.11.: another german record charts is currently on the airwaves of south german radiostation SWR1. From Nov.5 until Saturday the best 500 TOP songs ever are played. The start this morning saw Status Quo's "In the army now" on No. 499. The Top 1000 is presented after the event. Then all Quo chart notes will be published. Surprisingly a huge amount of voters - more than 140.000 radio listeners voted!! To get in the TOP500 more than 100 votes were needed.

  • 04.11.: a 2000 sell-out-crowd in Alhambra Theatre / Bradford saw last night another change in the setlist - "Hold you back" replaced the song "Rain".

  • 03.11.: In yesterdays show in Sheffield/City hall the song "Don't waste my time" was dropped, but in the encore Chuck Berry's "Carol" was played. First shows went down very well and people telling from a very rocking set.The stageset is altered, the marshall amplifiers are built-up 20 ft. high.

  • 25.10.: Happy Birthday Roy Lynes. Quo's first keyboarder celebrates today his 60th birthday. All the best !!! Roy left the band in 1970.

  • 24.10.: at todays performance on "The Des and Mel"-Show in british ITV television Status Quo played the new version of "Rockin' all over the world".

  • 23.10.: on yesterdays radio show on BBC2 the new version of "Caroline" was played.

  • 18.10.: Today Chuck Berry celebrates his 77th. birthday. The Chuck Berry song "Bye bye Johnny" is always the last song at Status Quo concerts. By the way: there were 2 festivals were both Chuck Berry and Status Quo appeared: 1x 1987 at the Paleo Festival in Nyon (Switzerland) and 1x 1995 at the Out in the Green Festival in Frauenfeld (Switzerland).

  • 15.10.: the "Riffs" album is due to be released in Germany too but without a bonus DVD. Quo are special guests in the Steve Wright show Radio 2 (UK) next wednesday Oct. 22. The show is very popular in UK.

  • 12.10.: Happy Birthday Rick Parfitt. Rick is celebrating his 55th birthday. Since his entry way back in 1967 he is playing the rhythm gituar.

  • 29.09.: today Jerry Lee Lewis celebrates his 67th birthday. He is the original artist of the song "Great Balls of Fire" which is at the end of QUO's Anniversary Waltz.

  • 28.09.: the Classic Rock magazine will publish a special issue at the 9th of October totally dedicated to Status Quo. On 148 pages you'll find even the band members on their private site. An all time TOP50 of Quo songs will be in and lots more. Classic Rock had a Quo report in January 2002 and issue No.45/2002 shows a 2-page-report with Rick Parfitt.

  • 25.09.: the new fanclub magazine "from the makers of.." arrived. Its content is basically the America tour 2003 and the announcement of another book of Rick and Francis due to be released in 2004.

  • 20.09.: News from the official fanclub FTMO. With an post entry in the messageboard Mike Hrano wrote that the new fanzine will be sent out at September 23. The next fanzine will be out just before the "Riffs" release in early-mid November. "This issue will be accompanied by the chance to buy a very special item of Quo memorabilia. Specifically, I have plectrums used by Francis and Rick at each of the European and UK Heavy Traffic Tour dates in 2002 (just over 70 in all). The plectrums for each show will be mounted beneath a huge, framed and autographed photograph of Francis and Rick with their guitars. A plaque will also include the name of anyone wo purchases each 'award' - and each one will come with a 'Certificate Of Authenticity' signed by Tonto and, again, by Francis and Rick. Of course, there will only be one award available per show. For example 'Plectrums used by Francis and Rick at Wembley Arena on December 14, 2002'."

  • 19.09.: Happy Birthday John Coghlan. Today John celebrates his 57th birthday. Until 1982 he was Status Quo's first drummer.

  • 13.09.: the big german radio station SWR1 is doing another record charts. All listeners can vote their 3 top songs ever. The TOP500 is broadcasted from November 5 to November 8. The song data base to choose the songs includes 22 !! Status Quo songs from "Matchstick Men" to "Jam Side down".

  • 07.09.: today Buddy Holly would have been 67 years old. He inspired Quo to 2 cover songs "That'll be the day" and "Rave on". Buddy died in 1959 only 22 years old. Alongside Elvis Presley and Chuck Berry he's regarded as the greatest Rock 'n Roller ever.

  • 02.09.: the planned 1.french Quo party which was due at the end of September in Paris is postponed and will now take place next year.

  • 29.08.: on the "Heavy Traffic" tour, which started in Bremen/Germany (11.10.2002) and ended with the Lincoln Castle show (25.8.2003) Status Quo played a total of 119 gigs. (52 in 2002 and 67 in 2003 - cancelled shows not included). Status Quo did 3 german tours, played in South-America, Mexico, USA, Canada und Australia, England, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Denmark, Switzerland, Austria, Ireland.

  • 21.08.: looking forward: next Saturday Status Quo performs at the Knockhill Race Circuit in Scotland, by the way Quo's first outdoor gig in Scotland. Nazareth first announced for this festival definitely doesn't play there. Next monday the last gig at Lincoln Castle before the band will enjoy a well-earned summer-holiday.

  • 11.08.: even the big summer heat couldn't stop Status Quo. More than 10.000 people saw another brilliant Quo performance at yesterdays "Heitere" - Open Air in Zofingen/Switzerland. A long report will be broadcasted next Saturday in SF DRS2.

  • 09.08.: August 10 sees QUO performing at the "Heitere"-Open Air in Zofingen/Switzerland. 29 years ago - November 3, 1974 QUO played in Zofingen too.

  • 23.07.: another interesting Status Quo concert will be next Saturday in Liverpool at the "Liverpool Summer Pops". An annual event, which is highly regarded in England. Almost every day well-known artists perform there at the Liverpool Docks. For example on July 24th the Beach Boys play there, who are on their 40th anniversary tour this year. 2 years ago both bands played on the "Kings of Route" Tour at the same venue in Liverpool.   • 18.07.: there was a german QUO special at the radio station RADIO ERFT. 60 minutes of Status Quo featuring german QUO fans who talked about QUO - 9 QUO songs were played. June 30

  • 17.07.: preview: on Sunday, July 20 QUO will appear in Silverstone on the "after race show" after the formula1-race. Support acts are Eddy Jordan and the Damon Hill band. This could be a massive event because many people tend to see the after race shows and the show in Silverstone is free for all Formula1 visitors.

  • 12.07.: yesterdays gig in Aachen/Germany was attended by 5.000 people.

  • 10.07.: after a well-earned two week rest the band continues with their live programme in Aachen/Germany on Friday July 11. In front of the famous old cathedral Status Quo appears at the "Aachener Kultursommer" - an annual event in this town. On Saturday Quo will play at the open air in Montereau/France together with the likes of Georgia Satellites; a band who revived the southern rock in the 80ies. In 1989 Bob Young was involved with this band and played on their single and their LP "In the Land of salvation and sin" .

  • 04.07.: the remastered CD "Ma Kelly's Greasy Spoon" which is due out July 28 in England can already be ordered at german's big retailer JPC. They deliver abroad.   • 03.07.: the official german fanclub announced his retirement !! Since the mid-80's this fanclub was run by Stefan Wiedemeier. Well done and all the best Stefan !!

  • 29.06.: Quo's setlist at the open air in Lichtenvoorde was the usual one, but without the songs Solid Gold, Heavy Traffic, Gerdundula and Big Fat Mama. The festival was sold out with an 25.000 attendance.

With this release it is all in all the 4th CD-release of the 4 PYE albums after 1987; 1990; and 1998.

  • 14.06.: approx. 10.000 fans saw a brilliant Status Quo gig at the kick-off of the UK Forest tour in Sherwood Pines yesterday. No changes in the setlist. Support band Little Egypt.

  • 29.05.: Happy Birthday Francis Rossi. Francis celebrates his 54th birthday today !!! All the best Francis !!

  • 29.05.: after a cancelled show in Cottbus the QUO engine fired on all cylinders just one day later at the Stadthalle in Memmingen. Around 1000 fans saw a rousing Status Quo performance with Francis Rossi in good mood showing no signs of illness. No change in the setlist- the only change is within the intro a) accompanied by an Eminem song and b) after the truck intro the Pictures of Matchstickmen intro was played.
  • 29.05.: Universal Sweden recently released another Best of compilation entitled "12 Klassiker" (Cat.No. 077 298) The CD includes 12 classic QUO songs.

  • 29.04.: a new russian release - the CD "Back to back / In the army now" shows both QUO albums on 1 CD. Label: P-12 like it was done with the "Back-2-Back"-series.
  • 29.04.: a look to the australian tour: Wooloongong - there was an electricity cut off in between the song "Down, Down". Congratulations to Dr. Lee Hawkins to his marriage with Kylie during this tour. Dr.Lee is well-known to insiders of the Quo fan-scene. He dedicated his doctor work "to the rock group Status Quo, its members past and present and to the QUO army". He is known for excellent gig reviews in some fanzines. (e.g. the "Full Quota" fanzines from Nicki Lisle)

  • 26.04.: in german Ebay the english single "Technicolor Dreams" was sold for 481 Euro. (around 320 british pounds) The english release of this single was cancelled by the record company way back in 1968. Only a handful of copies do exist. In some european countries this single was officially released. (e.g. Germany -> click to see cover and Netherlands)

  • 24.04.: in the series "From the collector of.." new the portugese single "Caroline". Under the huge amount of Status Quo singles the portugese singles are most collectable because they are not easy to find although its an european country. -> single cover Portugal
  • 24.04.: the new issue of the english fanzine "On the Level" is now out. It's already No.10 and the first coloured one. Good job, Mr.Evans and Mr.Dyllan.

  • 19.04.: the UK Winter tour dates announced with start in Guildford 29.10. and finish in Glasgow 21.12. Tickets on sale from April 29 to May 2 only for members of the official fanclub F.T.M.O.

  • 17.04.: while Status Quo is touring in Australia the latest fanzine from the official Status Quo fanclub "From the makers of" is sent out. By the way, with this fanzine the fanclub celebrates his 10th anniversary. May 1993 saw the first issue of FTMO. Congratulations to Mike Hrano and his team !!

  • 15.04.: today Dave Edmunds is celebrating his 59. birthday. From Dave Edmunds is the song "I hear you knocking" part of Status Quo's Anniversary Waltz and the song "Crawling from the wreckage" was recorded by Dave (other artists did a recording too). The roads of Dave Edmunds and Status Quo crossed some times. More about this relationship later.

  • 13.04.: in a few days the australian tour kicks off. But this year started with the american tour and there was not much information about it so far. So here you are with the review of the QUO america special. -> america special

  • 06.04.: on Saturday evening the new NFL hymn "All stand up (for the NFL)" was played before the kick-off of the NFL match Düsseldorf Rheinfire and Amsterdam Admirals in one of the most amazing football-arenas "Auf Schalke" in Gelsenkirchen/Germany. 28.206 people listened to the rap-remix of Status Quo and Englands rapper D Mack.   • 04.03.: while Status Quo is touring in USA/Canada the countdown for the Heavy Traffic tour in Germany begins. March 12; Status Quo is in the german late night comedy "Harald Schmidt-Show". This show has an average attendance of 1,5 million viewers. QUO is the first abroad band who is playing there. Thursday, March 13 is the kick-off for the first 12 german Status Quo concerts in 2003. In between are 2 austrian gigs and the Zurich concert in Switzerland who is already sold out with an expected 7.000 plus crowd.

  • 27.02.: Happy Birthday Jackie Lynton. He celebrates his 63rd birthday today. He was the announcer on the legendary 1977 Live-album and he wrote the song "Again and Again". He is a musician and a Status Quo fan.

In Switzerland the big indoor concert in Zürich is sold out too. (venue has up to 10 - 12.000 capacity)
