ORIGINAL DEMO

This is part of the original 2006 demo of 'I Don't Wanna Hurt You Anymore'. Quo recorded this song on the 'In Search Of The Fourth Chord' album in 2007. If I ever get around to recording the follow up to my 'In Quo Country' album I'll definitely be doing this song....

July 3, 2008 - 1 song added "Let's Change The World"

Let's Change The World (Rossi / Young / Gribbin)
JOE ECHO
Last year Francis & I wrote and demo'd a song called 'Can't Change The World'. We were asked recently if we had any songs suitable for a TV ad for a major international soft drinks company and felt that with a different treatment and a few changes this track might be suitable. So we gave it to Ciaran (Joe Echo) along with the brief and a free hand to re-work it and re-record it. This is the result which we're all very pleased with. It's now with the company in America and we wait to see if it works for them. If not then we're sure it'll be suitable for another product. Maybe I'll be able to put up the original demo soon....

Caroline (fast) (Rossi / Young)
ROSSI / YOUNG
ORIGINAL DEMO
This is the original fast version of the demo Francis & I recorded at R.G.Jones studio in Wimbledon in 1971.
The first version was the slow one and after recording it we decided to try a fast one. Glad we did.....
The song was written when the Rossi's & Youngs were on holiday in Perranporth in Cornwall in 1970.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

May 16, 2008 - 1 song added "Baby Goodbye"

Baby Goodbye (Rossi / Young)
ROSSI / YOUNG
ORIGINAL DEMO
This is the original 2004 demo of 'Goodbye Baby' on Quo's 2005 The Party Ain't Over Yet album.
Its with a drummachine and I think Nicholas Rossi on bass.
I really like Francis guitar solos. Basically a simple blues song.

And another from the In Quo Country album. It’s been a great Quo standard in the live show for many years and I hope this version does the song justice.

This is a song Francis and I wrote a couple of years back and recorded here by Paul Camilleri who’s album was produced by Francis Rossi in Arsis Studios.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

April 12, 2008 - 2 songs added "Ain't Got No Money" and "English Rose & Yankee Dan"

Ain’t Got No Money (Frankie Miller)
DIESEL BAND
This is a brilliant Frankie Miller song that was originally recorded by him for his third album ‘The Rock’. Its been covered many times by a variety of artist from Cher to Bob Seger and is such a great song to play live and a Diesel Band favourite.

English Rose & Yankee Dan (Young/Markee)
BOB YOUNG
This is straightforward country song written by myself and Dave Markee, Eric Claptons bass player.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

April 3, 2008 - 1 song added "I Cried"

I Cried (Rossi/Young )
ORIGINAL DEMO
So here it is…the other song that combined with the original demo of ‘Heavy Traffic’ to make up the Status Quo album version. Demo’d in 2003.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

April 1, 2008 - 1 song added "River Of Tears"

River Of Tears (May/Engel/Carlton)
DIESEL BAND
This song was the single taken from the (still) unreleased Diesel Band album we recorded in Gothenburg in 1992. We also shot a video of this over there so I’ll dig it out and get it up online as soon as possible.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

March 30, 2008 - 1 song added "Elements"

Elements (Deakin/Franglen)
LEMON JELLY
This song is on the beautiful album ‘Lost Horizons’ by the wonderful Lemon Jelly www.lemonjelly.ky that was the brainchild of Nick Franglen and Fred Deakin who became good friends and I was delighted when they asked me to play harmonica on this track (Quo it ain’t…..)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

March 21, 2008 - 1 song added "Heavy Traffic"

Heavy Traffic (Rossi / Young)
ORIGINAL DEMO
The 2002 Quo version of 'Heavy Traffic' on the album of the same name came about from the combination of two Rossi / Young songs 'Heavy Traffic' & 'I Cried' that we'd written and demo'd in 2001. John Edwards had an idea that it would work well by using parts of each song. The demos are quite basic with drum machine and Francis playing all the instruments. So this here is Part 1 that has never been heard before which makes it definitely a rare recording and an opportunity to see how the final versions of songs are sometimes developed. Francis has allowed me to put it up on my website and next week I'll add the demo of 'I Cried' to complete the picture. I still believe the arrangements of both songs stand up individually...... So I hope you find this of interest.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

March 14, 2008 - 1 song added "Breakaway"

Breakaway (C.Gribbin)
JOE ECHO
This is a new track by the multi-talented JOE ECHO, the Irish artist I manage. The producer is Chris Potter whose credits include The Verve, Blur, the Stones etc. Its one of the songs that will be on the new album currently being recorded. Lots of good things happening right now for Joe and I hope you'll enjoy his music and want to give us your support when the next release happens. I'll keep you posted. www.myspace.com/joeecho www.joeecho.com

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

March 7, 2008 - 2 songs added "Don't Stand In The Open" and "I'll Be Back"

Don't Stand In The Open (Young / Moody)
GRAHAM BONNET
And another from Grahams album. I seem to remember John Lord of Deep Purple played some keyboards on this album. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

I'll Be Back (Rossi/Young)
YOUNG & MOODY
This is track 2 on the original 'Young & Moody' album recorded in 1977 and produced by Deep Purple bass player Roger Glover. Francis & I wrote it probably around 1974 and shows again our country music influences. Great fiddle playing from Graham Preskett.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

February 29, 2008 - 2 songs added "Out On The Water" and "The Devil Went Down To Georgia"

Out On The Water (Young / Moody)
GRAHAM BONNET
This is another song Micky and I wrote for Graham and is on his 'Line Up' album which was produced by Francis Rossi and John Eden.

The Devil Went Down To Georgia (Daniels/Edwards/Marshall/Hayward/Crain/Digregorio)
YOUNG & MOODY
There's been several requests from a few of you to put this up. This is quite simply a great country song originally recorded by The Charlie Daniels Band. His version features some brilliant violin playing and Micky Moody and I decided to record this song and change the violin to electric slide guitar which Micky is so good at.
If you listen carefully you will be able to hear Francis Rossi singing the backing vocals....

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

February 16, 2008 - 4 songs added "Shady Lady" "Night Ride" "Dirty Hand" "Late Last Night"

Shady Lady (Rossi/Young)
BOB YOUNG
Another ‘In Quo Country’ album track. This song was first recorded by Quo for the 1979 ‘Whatever You Want’ album. I still reckon it would be a great live song......

Nightride (Parfitt / Young)
BOB YOUNG
More from ‘Quo Country’. Rick & I wrote this song initially for Quo’s 1975 album ‘On The Level’ and it also became the B side of their Number 1 single ‘Down Down’.

Dirty Hand (Young / Moody)
GRAHAM BONNET
Graham is still out there touring loads. Check out www.bonnetrocks.com As the singer with Rainbow, MSG and still Alcatrazz he made his reputation as an outstanding vocalist. Micky Moody and I wrote several songs for him when Pip Williams was producing his records. ‘Dirty Hand’ found its way onto a Japanese album called ‘Line-Up + Graham Bonnet’. Others were on B-sides and I’ll try and get them up on here soon. I’m interested to hear them myself after so long. He was also managed in the seventies by David Oddie at Quo’s Quarry Management company.

Late Last Night (Parfitt / Rossi / Young)
(WRITING / DEMO & QUO BACKING TRACK)
This song was originally intended for Ricks unreleased solo album but eventually ended up being recorded by Quo and included as an additional track on the 12” vinyl format of ‘In The Army Now’ in 1986. Here’s Rick & I doing a first very rough demo at my house around 1978/9 and it slips into the Quo pre-vocals backing track. It’s a song I’d like to re-record if I ever get around to the doing follow up to my ‘In Quo Country’ album.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

February 11, 2008 - 1 song added "Lovin's Too Easy"

Lovin's Too Easy (Miller/Young)
FRANKIE MILLER
This is one of the several songs I've written with Frankie Miller and is on his album 'Long Way Home' which was released in 2006 and I highly recommend. The Eagles Joe Wash is playing guitar on this track. Frankie's songs have been recorded by dozens of big international artists from Rod Stewart, Ray Charles and The Everly Brothers to Johnny Cash, Bob Seger, Roy Orbison and Clint Black. Check out his story on his website www.frankiemiller.net
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

February 4, 2008 - 2 songs added "Claudie" and "Four until late"

Claudie (Rossi/Young)
BOB YOUNG
This is another track from my ‘In Quo Country’ album. This song was first recorded by Quo on their 1973 ‘Hello’ album which so many of us agree is one of the bands most classic albums. Its certainly one of my favourites and also has on it some songs which soon became standards in the live show and still remain 35 years later.

Four Until Late (Robert Johnson)
YOUNG & MOODY
This is our cover of a well-known blues song by the legendary Robert Johnson. Its one of the tracks on the Young & Moody album and we quite simply wanted to play and record this together as a nod to our love of the blues. I like to think we’ve done justice to the song. Eric Clapton also later recorded this as have many other artists
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

February 2, 2008 - 1 song added "Coming And Going"

Coming And Going (Parfitt/Young)
PARFITT YOUNG
Demo
This is the original 1978 demo of ‘Coming & Going’ that was eventually recorded by Quo for the ‘Just Supposin’ album in 1980. Rick and I recorded this demo in my house in Purley on some very basic equipment but I like it because it has so much raw energy. There are no lyrics except the chorus here as it we finished these some time later.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

January 27, 2008 - 2 songs added "Can't Give You More" and "Living On An Island"

Can't Give You More (Rossi/Young)
BOB YOUNG
This is another track from my ‘In Quo Country’ album. The song was first recorded on Quo’s ‘Rockin’ All Over The World’ album in 1977.

Living On An Island (Parfitt/Young)
BOB YOUNG
Along with ‘Mystery Song’ this is one of my favourite songs that Rick and I wrote together. It first appeared on the Quo album ‘Whatever You Want’ in 1979 and was very different to a lot of the bands previous singles but nevertheless did extremely well. This version here is again from ‘In Quo Country’ and with all of the recordings on this album I simply wanted to show another side to the songs particularly as Francis and I have always had one foot in country music.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

January 23, 2008 - 2 songs added "Don't You Tell Me To Go" and "Chicago Blue"

Don't You Tell Me To Go (Young/Markee)
YOUNG & MOODY
This is another track from my ‘In Quo Country’ album. The song was first recorded on Quo’s ‘Rockin’ All Over The World’ album in 1977.

Chicago Blue (Young/Moody)
YOUNG & MOODY
This was the first Young & Moody single in 1977 from our first album which was produced by our good friend Roger Glover of Deep Purple. (see also link "discography)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

January 16, 2008 - 2 songs added "Down Down" and "Sunrise To Sunset"

Down Down (Rossi/Young)
BOB YOUNG
I recorded this for my ‘In Quo Country’ album and just love Albert Lee’s guitar playing.

Sunrise To Sunset (D.Coverdale)
YOUNG & MOODY
David Coverdale wrote this song especially for Micky Moody and I.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

January 9, 2008 - 2 songs added "Mean Girl" and "Purple Haze"

Mean Girl (Rossi/Young)
BOB YOUNG
Another "In Quo Country" track. Great musicians on this album and the outro duel between violinist Graham Peskett and legendary guitarist Albert Lee is quite special.

Purple Haze (Rossi/Young/Cato/Findlay/Groove Armada)
GROOVE ARMADA
Andy Cato and Tom Findlay who are Groove Armada are real Quo fans and they decided to sample Francis guitar riff off "April Spring Summer & Wednesdays" from the 1969 "Ma Kelly's Greasy Spoon" album. It came out as a successful single and they asked Francis to appear in their video which he was happy to do. It really works and its possible there will be similar collaborations with GA.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

January 2, 2008 - 2 songs added "Fine Fine Fine" and "Warm Winds"

Fine Fine Fine (Rossi/Young)
BOB YOUNG
This is a song Francis & I wrote and which was recorded on the 1974 "QUO" album. Its an example of a Quo song that suits a Country arrangement. This version appeared as a bonus track on my 1996 album "Tex Axile Rides Again in Quo Country".

Warm Winds (Young/Moody)
YOUNG & MOODY
Recorded as a B-side to a Young & Moody single and also on the "Tex Axile.." album.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1.Chained To Love (Young/Moody)
DIESEL BAND
Another track from the Diesel album written by Young & Moody.

2.No Moon Shines (Diesel)
DIESEL BAND
John Coghlans Diesel made an album in Gothenburg 1991. This is one of the two tracks on the single.
Written by the whole band.

3.One Way To Roll (Young/Moody)
YOUNG & MOODY
This a demo of a song Micky and I wrote many years ago with Quo in mind. Maybe one day…

4.Svensk Blues (Minhinnett/Young/Moody)
MYM
Micky, Ray and I did a tour of Sweden in the late 80’s as MYM. This is a nice old back to basic blues song we wrote while over there and recorded in Northumberland.

5.Don't Wanna Lose You (Young/Moody)
YOUNG & MOODY
Micky Moody and I wrote and recorded this song many years ago. Eric Clapton also recorded it in Nassau but unfortunately halfway through the album he decided to change the band and start again.
So somewhere locked in his vaults it still sits…
